We are pleased to provide the following update to the Hong Kong ice hockey community.
Thank you for your continued support of the China Hockey Group (CHG). Despite the pandemic challenges faced this past season, the CHG has continued to grow and expand. The demand for quality hockey programs, leagues and tournaments in Hong Kong and the region has never been stronger and we are grateful that so many players participate in our leagues and families entrust us to coach their children in this wonderful sport.
The CHG is comprised of China Ice Hockey League (CIHL), South China Ice Hockey League (SCIHL), Junior Tigers, Greater Bay Hockey League (GBHL), Ball Hockey League (BHL), and CHG Hockey Shop.
We have exciting plans for the 2020-2021 season as 2 new full size rinks (Discovery Bay and Lohas Park) will come online later this year.
This season also marks the 25th anniversary of the SCIHL, Hong Kong’s first ever organized ice hockey league. As a result, the SCIHL will restore the Division 1,2,3,4 framework that was so successful in Hong Kong for several years. This will be done in an organized, phased strategy over the next year taking into consideration different rink options.
To begin, we can confirm that the SCIHL will return to Elements for the 2020-2021 season and registration will open Friday July 3. Price and terms will remain the same as last year.
Hockey in Hong Kong and the region has grown exponentially over the past quarter of a century and we are delighted that the SCIHL continues to play an integral part of the community through its non-contact, recreational league.
We look forward to the continued successful growth of hockey in Hong Kong, Greater Bay area, and region for years to come.
